Summary

Aim to build the capacity of landholders to adopt best management practices through the delivery of practical strategies to remain viable through observed climate variability.


Outcome

The project will add value to past research initiated through the WA Sustainable Grazing on Saline Land program and build on current industry networks. The project will work in close consultation with the Department of Agriculture and Food WA.

Project long term goals;

  • Improve the resilience of properties in the project area to adapt to climate change and climate variability.

  • Evaluate the viability of a change in land practice (profitability).

  • Increase adaption rates of perennials based pasture systems in the project area.

  • Deliver advice on practical on-ground changes to farming enterprises by building on the current knowledge, skills and capacity of landholders.
