Summary

This project will survey landholders in our catchment region to determine needs and values pertaining to NRM and Sustainable Agriculture; and identify the barriers for involvement or implementation of the relevant best practices and also, inform of our new Gillamii membership program.

Outcome

The project engaged a service provider to undertake a comprehensive landholder/community consultation (2017 Community Engagement Survey) throughout the Gillamii service area. Key objectives of the consultation were to quantify the current issues (or challenges) and values of primary producers in the area pertaining to land management and sustainability; and identify the barriers to their involvement in the Gillamii and/or the adoption of best practice NRM on their properties in general.

This process also helped raise the profile of the Gillamii and most importantly, helped increase and/ensure the effectiveness and relevance of the Gillamii grower group. A report was compiled for the committee to analyse and as a guidance document for decision making moving forward.
