Perennials Pastures Project

The North-Stirlings Pallinup Natural Resources Inc in conjunction with the Gillamii Centre applied and received funding for their project ‘Real advances in landscape recovery through productive agriculture, using ecologically enhancing perennials and increased water use’ in 2004 ($200,000, 2004-05; $106,475, 2005-06).The project introduced a sustainable farming system to the North Stirling Pallinup and Frankland Gordon catchments. It involved adopting perennial pastures, improved water management, and demonstrated the impact of activities on ground-water levels and improved connectivity with native vegetation. Over 25 landholders were engaged with over 2086 ha of perennial pastures established throughout the project. The table below provides a summary of the on-ground works established throughout the duration of the project.

Natural Resource Management Officer

This project funded 1.0 FTE Natural Resource Management Officer to assist with the implementation of the South Coast Regional Strategy for NRM (the Strategy) and other South Coast NRM funded projects for NRM in the Kent Franklin sub-regional area. The NRM Officer’s main role was to coordinate, facilitate and monitor Strategy activities and projects (particuarly South Coast NRM Investment activities) and foster community engagment in NRM. Funds were also provided to the Delivery Organisation to strengthen governance arrangements to assist South Coast NRM in the implementation of the Strategy. The project was funded through South Coast NRM Inc and received approximately $271,920.20 between the periods of 01/07/2005 until the 14/11/2008.
