The Frankland Gordon Strategic Catchment Investigation Project was designed to initiate the development of a Catchment Plan for implementation during the next investment phase. The incorporated information in the form of the final ‘Scoping Document’ identified preliminary planning and investigations, along with future stages of development for continued investment and targeted implementation of activity. The project was funded through South Coast NRM Inc and received $307,900.00 from 2007 with a completion date of June 2009.
The Scoping Study was completed in December 2008. The study aimed to help select priority subcatchments within the Frankland Gordon Catchment where further community engagement and consultation will further refine these priority subcatchments to four or five. The final priority subcatchments will be where the initial on-ground works will take place. The on-ground component of this project includes four focus farms initiated as demonstration sites throughout the Catchment. The sites include farm specific works funded through the Frankland Gordon Strategic Catchment Investigation project. These works include the establishment of perennials pastures, fencing works, soil testing, piezometer installation and engineering works.
