Capacity Engagement Project



Through this project the Gillamii Centre received $108,000.00 with the project to be completed by June 2009. The project is funded through South Coast NRM Inc and aims to develop strategies to implement activities across the target area to increase the engagement of the community in Natural Resource Management activities.
The outcomes of this project currently include:
- Profile of the Community Developed
- Activities undertaken in the area to increase community engagement in and knowledge of Natural Resource Management. These have included:
- Coordination of the Red Card for Red Fox Program in the Cranbrook Shire
- Development of Sustainable Living Libraries in Cranbrook and Frankland.
- Delivery of ‘Introduction to Sustainable Living’ Course in Cranbrook.
- Assistance to newly formed ‘Sustainable Living’ Group including a monthly newsletter ‘Sustaining Focus’.
- Delivery of the ‘Rivermodel’ educational tool to Cranbrook and Frankland PS.
- Development of a revegetation ‘Ute Guide’ to the essentials of successfully establishing revegetation.
- Fire Ready workshop held in Cranbrook
- Phytophthora Dieback information given to local wildflower groups to incorporate into their seasonal displays.
- Assisting the Shire of Cranbrook with the updating of the Federation Wildflower Walk.
- Applying for grants to assist the Shire of Cranbrook in establishing nature appreciation at Lake Poorrarecup and the Federation Wildflower Walk.
